MCLEAN, Va. - With an estimated 55,000 free waffles served daily at more than 1,800 locations across the Americas, Hampton Hotels today joins the global community in celebrating International Waffle Day. Each day, Hampton goes through more than 18,000 gallons of batter to provide guests the freshly-baked breakfast delight. Laid end-to-end, that's more than seven miles of waffles served every day by the hotel brand.
In honor of this foodie holiday, all Hampton hotels throughout the Americas have been challenged to create an unforgettable waffle experience for guests by featuring creative waffle toppings not normally found in their free breakfast offering. Toppings will vary by location, but some examples include ice cream with sprinkles and regional themed toppings like pralines in New Orleans. Guests might even be treated to the interesting combination of fried chicken and waffles.

Not to be confused with National Waffle Day, International Waffle Day originates from Sweden where citizens celebrate the start of spring by preparing waffles in conjunction with the Swedish Feast of Annunciation. Known as "Våffeldagen" in Swedish, the celebratory day is held on March 25th each year and occurs nine months to the day before Christmas.
